2PE LAB
Our Activities
In the 2PE lab, we conduct research to better understand how structural determinants affect health and well-being, what interventions mitigate these inequities and through which mechanisms, and how contextual factors influence these relationships. We primarily focus on social protection programs and interventions aimed directly at reducing poverty and those promoting intersectoral linkages to address the multidimensional nature of poverty. We measure health and wellbeing in domains related to violence, food and water security, morbidity, health service utilization, sexual and reproductive health, and mental health. Some of the contextual factors we examine include social and gender norms, access to basic services, and quality of existing health services. We work closely with governments, community leaders, health care providers, United Nations agencies such as UNICEF, researchers based locally in the contexts studied, and non-governmental organizations to formulate research questions, conduct research, disseminate findings, and facilitate evidence uptake.
